The idea for the observing series was first hatched when I visited the MOMA museum in 2007. I went to see the art but became just as interested in the people viewing the work. I wondered what each person was thinking based on the way they stood or interacted with others. It is the wonderful variety of reactions I observed that I try to capture in my subjects.

Covid 19 and the subsequent closure of all inside public spaces forced me to continue my people watching outside. Art viewers turned into people standing in line at supermarkets. My interest shifted from speculating about their views on art to their attitudes towards the ongoing pandemic; all inferred through their body language alone.
