Parenthood has had a significant impact on my work and has had an influence over my themes.  The Building Blocks Series is inspired by the things I have to stop myself  saying to my 3 year old. Phrases like “there there, don’t cry” and “go away and think about what you’ve done” are common phrases that will be familiar to many, and which seem pretty innocent.  However, I see the former as an instruction to learn to suppress your emotions and the latter an invitation to become a world class ruminator!  Of course not everyone infers these meanings but I guess these pieces are a lighthearted way to reflect on how my own character has developed over time.
